Why Lumira doesn't come with a cable

Lumira is a table design lamp with an E27 socket and a fabric lampshade. The package includes the lamp itself, the base, and the bulb: the power cable is not included.

The reason is practical: every customer has different preferences. Some want a black cable, others white or gray, some need a longer one, others a shorter one. Instead of shipping a compromise, we leave the choice to you.

Which cable fits Lumira

Lumira uses a standard two-pin plug with an E27 threaded socket. Look for a cable labeled E27 thread, 2 x 0.75 mm², max. 40 W.

In Slovakia you'll find them at electrical stores, most hardware stores, and online. Prices range from 4 to 12 EUR, depending on length and the braiding material.

What to watch for when choosing a cable

  • Length: measure the distance from the outlet to where the lamp will stand, a braided cable can look shorter than it actually is
  • Braid color: fabric braiding (cotton, jute, cotton with a metallic sheen) matches Lumira's lampshade better than bare plastic
  • Switch: some cables have an inline switch, useful if you don't plan to plug the lamp into a power strip with a switch

How many watts Lumira can handle

The E27 socket in Lumira is rated for max. 40 W. The warm white LED bulb (2700 K) we recommend typically uses 4 to 8 W, so there's plenty of headroom.

Don't use halogen bulbs over 25 W or bulbs with a large bulb shape that would touch the lampshade.

First setup, step by step

  1. Check that the E27 socket is firmly screwed into the base
  2. Plug the cable's connector into the socket, the cable should be unlocked
  3. Insert the bulb (we recommend a warm white LED, E27, max. 8 W)
  4. Plug into the outlet and check that the lampshade doesn't feel warm to the touch, with the right bulb it won't
  5. Adjust the position of the lampshade depending on where you want to direct the light
