What Size Lithophane to Choose for the Living Room

A 10×15 cm lithophane disappears in a living room. A 30×40 one shouts. The truth lies in between, and it depends on where and how you backlight it.

For the living room: 20×15 or 25×20

On a sideboard, console table, or shelf, 20×15 cm works best. It fits in one hand, you can make it out from the sofa across the room, yet it doesn't steal attention from the rest of the space.

If your living room has high ceilings or an open floor plan, choose 25×20 cm. A smaller one looks like a trinket in such a room.

For the bedroom: smaller

Above a nightstand, 15×10 cm is enough. It's closer to the eye and doesn't overwhelm.

On the wall: bigger

A hung lithophane needs 30×20 cm or more, otherwise it gets lost on the wall.
