Where to Place a 3D Printed Lamp in the Bedroom

Alex

A bedroom lamp has one job: not ruining your sleep. If you place it so it shines straight into your face when you lie down, it doesn't matter how beautiful it is, by July you'll have put it away in the closet.

Nightstand, but with a lampshade

A nightstand is the classic choice and you can't go wrong with it, as long as the lamp has a lampshade that lets nothing through from above. Both KUMO and Lumira scatter light sideways through a PLA lampshade, so the partner next to you won't be disturbed. Place it 15-20 cm from the edge of the bed, so it doesn't get in the way when you reach for a glass of water.

A second spot that works, and one few people think of: a low dresser across from the bed, but not directly opposite. The lamp shines toward the ceiling and the corner of the room, the reflected light is soft, and the bedroom feels bigger. Never put it on a tall wardrobe, light falling from four meters above turns a face into a mask with shadows under the eyes.

The floor version of Lumira belongs in the corner behind an armchair, if you have one in the bedroom. Not between the bed and the window, it reflects in the glass and is distracting at night.

The basic rule: a lamp should light the room, not you. If you lie down and can see the bulb, move it. Find more tips on our contact page, where we reply within 24 hours.
